On 10th February 2017, India achieved a historic low solar power tariff of Rs 2.97 per kWh (ie per unit), for Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMS) project of 750 MW in the State of Madhya Pradesh. This is one of the largest solar projects in the world!

This brings the cost of solar power generation almost on par with coal power generation, a historic turning point in power generation indeed!
